Alright, let's kick off in true superstar fashion. Chances are you weren't able to shut yourself entirely from the multi-nation multi-million TV über-show Pop Idol and its various exported versions which swept the world from 2002, so you'll know that it's a complex adoration-identification-support-singalong affair, with most revenue going to the producers, songwriters, and Simon Fuller, the guy who invented it all.
In Germany, the format didn't fail, to say the least. In the final episode, both remaining contestants performed the specially engineered song Take Me Tonight, and basically the winner performance at the end was the blueprint for this interpretation. Evidently, it seems that poor Alex was a little overwhelmed and got some of the lyrics wrong - at least some passages are mumbledly strange in his live performance, something which I of course conveyed, since I didn't have an official lyric sheet anyway (the single wasn't even released yet when I recorded it).
I couldn't leave the song in its sugary coating, so I simply converted it to minor - and I think that when the song's performed that way, it might even take on a new, hidden, somber meaning. Anyway, you'll see when you listen to it. Have some super fun.
